This web site is a public service for artists and fans concentrating  on the world of metal and other aspects of underground culture.  We have a particular interest in the darker and more controversial aspects of metal such as black metal and thrash metal.

Why does all this matter?  It matters because we live in a world where the moral authority and political competence of those in power is crumbling rapidly.  Does anybody really have much confidence in our "respectable" political, business and religious leaders? 

Never before in history has there been such a level of destruction of the natural world and other living beings for the purposes of a short term gain by a few.  Never before in history have the very biological foundations of life been so threatened.  A major crisis of confidence in our world is the state of established religion, particularly in the case of Christianity.  As Nietzsche once observed, virtue may need to be protected against its preachers.

Underground culture, particularly metal, can be a medium for the transmission of ideas that are not controlled by those currently in power.    Art and music can reveal inner realities about life.  Sometimes, the world of the subconscious mind can be more important than the world of the conscious mind.

The philosopher Carl Jung talked about the collective unconscious, thoughts going back thousands of years in the minds of people.    Messages from the ancient past can place modern life in perspective.  Nature is billions of years of old.  Our modern world is based on very recent environmental and economic policies that have virtually no chance of long term viability without drastic reforms.  Getting back in touch with more ancient views of the natural world can help citizens and artists come to terms with an increasingly troubled future.  This is why  we have organized links related to ancient religions, philosophy and the modern world so that artists can more effectively use their talents to communicate relevant messages to society. 

Throughout history art and music have means of communicating larger ideas.  In today's world they can be used to raise people's awareness about what is wrong and the need for radical reform. 

We have links to news, environmental information and other realities in our world.  The artist can be a messenger to reach the subconscious mind of people around the world.   It is a matter of tuning into a responsive chord.  An artist sitting alone late at night can see visions of the past and the present via our web site.   Thanks to the internet, artists are no longer controlled by the corporate gate keepers of the giant record companies.  There is a giant digital international world out there.  Meanwhile thanks to technology, the cost of producing music and film has dropped on a quantum scale.

Technology is enabling those in the underground to challenge the ruling elites in politics, religion and business.  It's like the invention of the crossbow in the Middle Ages.  A mere peasant could bring down the world's richest knights.

We are continuing to expand our site.  Writers, photographers and artists are welcome to apply for work here.  (Help wanted link is at top of page.)  We are particularly interested in having somebody write a detailed introduction to the many resources on our site.  We are trying to create a small network of people here in America and around the world to cover relevant subjects in a professional manner.
